Metal mirrors offer broadband, low-dispersion performance, and their reflectivity is nearly constant over a large spectral range, regardless of the incident angle or polarization state.

Reflective bands:
Al: 200 nm (UV) to 20 μm (FIR)
Ag: 400 nm (visible) to 20 μm (far infrared)
Au: 600 nm (red) to 20 μm (far infrared)
Advantages:
Al: (1) The only low-cost metal that covers UV to IR.
(2) A natural oxide layer (Al₂O₃) provides some protection.
Ag: (1) Optimal reflectivity in the visible region, suitable for high-precision optical systems.
(2) Infrared performance close to that of gold, at a lower cost.
Au: (1) Highest infrared reflectivity and corrosion resistance (resistant to oxidation, acids, and alkalis).
