YAG Laser Crystal

1. Un-doped YAG Crystal(pure YAG) is an excellent material for UV-IR optical windows, particularly for high temperature and high energy density, The mechanical and chemical stability is comparable to sapphire crystal, but YAG is unique with non-birefringence and available with higher optical homogeneity and surface quality. Up to 3” YAG boule grown by CZ method, as-cut blocks, windows and mirrors are available.

2. Nd:YAG (Neodymium-doped yttrium aluminium garnet; Nd:Y3Al5O12) is a crystal that is used as a lasing medium for solid-state lasers. The dopant, triply ionized neodymium, typically replaces yttrium in the crystal structure of the yttrium aluminium garnet (YAG), since they are of similar size. Generally the crystalline host is doped with around 1% neodymium by atomic percent.

3. Cr4+:YAG (Chromium-doped yttrium aluminium garnet;Cr4+:Y3Al5O12) is a crystal that is used for Solid State and Compact Passive Q-switch. Passive Q-Switching is preferred for simplicity of manufacturing and operation, low cost and reduced system size and weight. Cr4+: YAG (Y3Al5O12) is an excellent crystal for passively Q-switching diode pumped or lamp-pumped Nd: YAG, Nd: YLF, Yb: YAG or other Nd and Yb doped lasers at wavelength from 1.0 to 1.2 mm. Because of its chemically stable, durable, UV resistant, good thermal conductivity and high damage threshold (> 500 MW/cm2) and being easy to be operated, it will replace traditional materials, such as, LiF, organic Dye and color centers.

4. Yb:YAG(Ytterbium-doped yttrium aluminium garnet;Yb:Y3Al5O12) has a broad application because of the excellent properties. Mostly, it is the best material for medical application where the need for eye protection may be difficult to manage or diminish or hinder essential visual observation. Recently it is used in optical fiber communication instead of EDFA for its more super plus.

5. ER:YAG(Erbium-doped yttrium aluminium garnet;Er:Y3Al5O12) is a kind of excellent 2.94 μm laser crystal, widely used in laser medical system and other fields. Er:YAG crystal laser is the most important material of 3nm laser, and the slope with high efficiency, can work at room temperature laser, laser wavelength is within the scope of the human eye safety band, etc. 2.94 mm Er:YAG laser has been widely used in medical field surgery, skin beauty, dental treatment.
